PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Virginia’s New ISA Law: A Practical Guide is a program for those interested in learning about the new Intelligent Speed Assistance Law and the ISAP Program. This live, in-person course is appropriate for all skill levels. We explore eligibility requirements, judicial discretion, VASAP administration, device installation and monitoring, participant compliance, and potential violations, while also providing examples and useful practice tips.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the purpose and legal structure of Virginia’s ISA law (HB 2096).
- Identify which clients are eligible for the ISA Program.
- Recognize the role of judges and VASAP in administering the program.
- Explain installation, monitoring, and client compliance requirements.
- Apply practical strategies when advising clients or making sentencing recommendations.
Meet the Trainer – Kimberly Schreiber
Kimberly is a trained DUI SFST Instructor and an attorney licensed in multiple states. She has taught the full SFST live course multiple times across several jurisdictions, including Public Defender’s Offices. She has been in practice for over 25 years.
